As a model maker for the television and advertising industry, Michael’s idea to create this unique furniture, developed in 1997, after making an artificial manhole cover for an HBO television commercial (see unique furniture history page).

All the manhole unique furniture designs now available closely represent the actual manhole designs used in each of the city's roads (see manhole cover unique furniture). Michael's unique furniture closely matches the characteristics of real manhole covers including various metal pitting, blemishes, texture, and aging of the metal. These unique furniture tables, stools, and wall art, are all handcrafted in New York using pulverized bronze metal and various high-strength resins. Unique furniture tables and stools are extremely strong and durable and can be used outdoors year-round. The final unique furniture finishing is created by Michael himself, using various patinas, therefore no two will be exactly alike.

Most of the manhole cover unique furniture designs are available as table tops and all are available as wall art. This unique furniture as a set, can be used as patio furniture, or separately as coffee tables, hall tables, stools, etc. Unique furniture has even been used as landscape art on an estate in England. Because unique furniture tables and stools are so durable and strong, they can be used in a recreation or game room and can take a lot of rough handling. You can also choose between three different sizes of unique furniture stools to design different seating arrangements.

Michael continues his work as a model maker (see biography). His daily challenge is to create an effect or model that has to be so realistic that it fools the camera (see model maker link for photos of his work). That’s another reason why this unique furniture is so special. Michael spent many hours creating each piece paying great attention to detail.
